“Here are the (7) days of build-up to Valentine’s Day – Rose Day, Propose Day, Chocolate Day, Teddy Day, Promise Day, Kiss Day, and Hug Day— and then finally – Valentine’s Day! Celebrated on February 7, Rose Day marks the start of Valentine Week“
‘Nom de la Rose’, shown below, is a Paris ‘roses only’ florist that has been around for a few decades. This one happens to be on rue du Bac in the 7th arrondissement, very near Saint-Germain Blvd. There are several locations of Nom de la Rose around Paris. https://www.aunomdelarose.fr/?utm_source=googlemybusiness
I believe the first shop was on rue de Tournon, which feeds right into to the Luxembourg Gardens in the 6th arrondissement. This location disappeared a number of years ago but was my favorite and I was disappointed to see its departure. On the weekend, on my way to the Luxembourg, I would stroll by and see they had taken their ‘discarded’ collection of rose petals from the week and spewed them, aesthetically and delicately, on the sidewalk outside the shop. The French women and men passing by would gingerly step around them so they could remain for others to appreciate.

Inside the rue de Bac shop, you can see some these words behind the cash register. It is a Tennessee Williams quote:

I believe it reads: “the rose is the heart of the world as the heart is the heart of the body. Happy Valentine’s Day. Celebrate the day as you wish.
