Halloween All Year In Paris?

I like to wander through Le Bon Marche, the department store on the Left Bank (24 Rue de Sèvres, 75007 Paris, France). To my eye, it is the most aesthetically pleasing one of the three department stores in Paris. It’s also the closest one to where I live when I am in Paris, as my neighborhood is the 6th arrondissement. Although Le Bon Marche is in the 7th arrondissement, it really borders so closely to the 6th, you would find it difficult to really notice you have shifted over to the 7th.

When I make my way through the store and have the time to do so, I include touring the children’s department. I can count on smiles easily closing in on my face, as I am delighted not only by the latest in clothing design and playful toys but also the way they select to display them and the stylish seasonal decorations chosen year after year . Included, over the years, I have seen a collection of creative, carefully crafted costumes which seem to be offered for year round use rather than just Halloween, like in the United States.

Including masks
An embellished Princess dress
And there is more than one glamorous dress to select from…
I would opt for this one–warm and cozy...
Or one of these with the furry cape…

Look at this glitzy one!
Leaning towards historical…
Full on historical dress…

Did this post stimulate some ideas for a Halloween costume? You could invent a 2020 COVID mask to blend in with your outfit? Or, stay safe and simply stay home, creating an evening of enjoyment at a distance.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN whatever way you choose to celebrate!

  1. Hi!

Nice walk through children’s department. Tense time so nice distraction. Hope all is going well with your medical treatments. Think of you often.

    Stay safe, Jane

  2. This was such fun, Judy, and I sent it on to my daughter who started thinking about Halloween costumes around Valentine’s Day. I had to create a rule that limited that conversation to the last couple of months before the holiday

Characteristically you have explored something I had totally ignored. I never have gone to children’s department since I had my last grandchild wearing cute clothes. Thank you for revealing one more part of Paris that I hope to venture into one day! Xx

    1. I have to say Le Bon Marche is a ‘gold mine’ for my eyes. Being such a visual person, I sometimes am at a loss of where to look first. when I am in there. And, of course, when I stroll from my apartment to the store, there is more eye candy in the various shops I pass while making my way there. Have you ever been to Paris?
